Here is this week's spelling activity. Can you write your spellings as pyramids, starting with the first letter of the word, and then adding one letter at a time each line, until the word is complete? Draw a triangle around your word to complete the pyramid.
Today we went into Wilton on a Geography field trip, following a map to find our way and looking at land use - residential, shops, businesses, hotels/restaurants or community. We will use these to plot onto our map of Wilton. We took Flat Stanley with us to look at some of the main tourist sights in Wilton. Firstly we went to Wilton Shopping Village and took at photograph of him in the Courtyard shopping area. After that we walked to Wilton House. Unfortunately the gates were closed, but luckily someone left through the gates, and we were able to take a quick photograph of the house while the gates were open! After that we went to the Italianate church of St Mary and St Nicholas and took Flat Stanley's final photograph there. No trip into Wilton would be complete without a quick visit to Reeves the Bakers. We all enjoyed a cheese straw!
Today, parents were invited to come into Diamond class to join in some fun maths activities and to see how we enjoy learning in our maths lessons. The children enjoyed showing parents how to pay the fractions loop game identifying fractions of shape. We also played Auntie Pasta's fraction game and Jump 10, where we learn to count in 10s by jumping down a row on the number square and move right to count on in 1s. Thank you to the parents who were able to join us.
Here is this week's suggested spelling activity. Please have a go at this in your home learning books.
We were lucky enough to be able to take the children to Wilton Shopping Village to the ice skating rink the day before the last day of term. They all seemed to enjoy themselves, skating round, walking round holding on the side, or pushing one of the seals around the rink. What an exciting way to end the term.
Today, we held our class Inspire morning. Parents were invited to attend to complete some fun activities with their children. This year we had a Christmas theme, with it being the last week of term. The children made reindeer food to sprinkle on Christmas Eve, gingerbread men and reindeer, very sticky marshmallow Christmas trees, a jar candle holder and some Christmas tree decorations. There were some Christmas maths and word searches as well. It was a very festive morning which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you to the parents who were able to come along.
Today was our first riding lesson at the RDA for this year. It was Hayden's and Kaden's first visit to the stables and they both did very well. We enjoyed our ride up into the woods, although we did get a bit soggy on the way back when it started pouring with rain!
Our Key Stage 2 children have written acrostic poems this week on Remembrance Day. Once they had written down their own poem, we shared ideas to write a class poem, which reflected our thoughts about Remembrance Day. I think you will agree that their final version is very powerful and thought provoking! |
